Third unveiled + Tanguay thoughts

Finally, after sitting on the this jersey for who knows how long, the Minnesota Wild had the chance to unveil their newest addition to their wardrobe, the Wild edition of the 3rd jersey. Unfortunately for the organization, the new threads came as no surprise to anyone who pays attention to the team online, as not only was the design leaked early but also images of Derek Boogaard and Brent Burns wearing this jersey. Give icethetics.com the credit for actually unveiling this for us.

I happen to like the new jersey and think it is a nice change from what we have seen. It is especially nice that they brought back green into the mix, as it was sorely missed. Now all I have to do is scrape up some coin so that I can add this one to my collection. On a side note, is anyone out there looking for an original season one 'away' jersey?

If you have not seen the official release, you can read it here.

Tanguay gets away

Contrary to what we have all been reading, I believe the Wild missed a big one when Tanguay signed with the Lightning. I am not necessarily talking about his immediate impact to this team but instead of what he might have meant later in the season, as in trade-bait. We have been hammered with the notion, an accurate one I believe, that there is not much in this organization as far as prospects. With that in mind, snagging Tanguay would have made a perfect addition...for when the trade deadline rolls around, an opportunity for the Wild to either pick-up a prospect or two and/or draft picks. I fully expect this team to finish outside of the playoff window, and because of this, also expect some season closing moves that would better position this team towards the future...and moving Tanguay would not have been very hard to do come late February, early March.

I would like to know what others think but I really like both the design and colors of this jersey. The original 'away' green jersey was my least favorite, especially when the introduced the red 'third' a few years back. The only thing that I think is missing and should be on it is a real small version of the 'wild' head, maybe somewhere on the shoulder.

I like the classic/retro look and the restrained use of red.
