Some things never change with Gabby

Ex Minnesota Wild winger Marian Gaborik has apparently not healed properly from his surgery that was preformed last January 5th, as already his new team, the New York Rangers, are taking the safe route. It seems that because the injury prone player was a little 'sore' and 'tender', Gaborik was unable to participate in the teams full workouts at the start of their training camp. And what is peculiar about this report is that the only thing mentioned as far as workouts that he may have participated in for the Rangers so far have been the 'informal skates' and then today's medical testing. What he missed today because of his condition was the sprint tests and a three-mile run, which he apparently was already excused from before his latest 'discomfort' became an issue.

Gaborik's injury problems have been well documented in his time with the Wild. His latest IR stint came last season when he missed all but 17 games after undergoing surgery to repair part of his hip that was causing groin pain. Prior to that, two seasons ago he missed 34 games because of the same groin problems. It was clear that his latest injury with the Wild and subsequent surgery that the team was not on the same page as he was regarding his injured groin, thus the distancing began that eventually led to Gaborik looking elsewhere after becoming an unrestricted free agent. Things soured so bad that even a change in the front office did not allow things to heal. And maybe the fact that it was reported by Gaborik's camp that new Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher never made an offer to retain Gaborik, that Fletcher saw the writing on the wall with Gaborik's injury history.

Those poor Rangers fans...$37.5 million for 5 years.

Where is my ticket sales release

The Wild media folks have always been known to stuff email in-boxes with press releases. It did not matter if, in the end, there really was no news, they cranked up their email machine anyway hoping to grab the headlines. That was the old regime... But oddly enough, I thoroughly expected a release sometime today lauding the fact that the Wild sold out their season, home-opener, or an exact list of games, in a matter of x amount of minutes. Ever since day one with ticket sales, the team has always prided itself on how fast, especially the home opener, they sold tickets once the single game seats when up for grabs, and then out went the release. But for some reason this season, no news on how the sales have gone so far, which makes me wonder...are we seeing a 'less is more' with new management and their email PR campaign or did the organization truly have a preconceived notion, that proved to be correct, that tickets would not fly off the shelf, thus the 'companion game' introduction?

Late addition...that Coyotes franchise is a joke

You have read all the happenings lately...what a mess. But this latest news really has me wondering why this team is still around.

Perhaps the biggest name in the history of the NHL and current Phoenix Coyotes head coach, Wayne Gretzky, is absent and was nowhere to be found as the team started training camp. The reason given by GM Don Moloney as to why his head coach was not around was that he is in 'limbo' because of the current courtroom circus and does not know if he will be retained once this is all settled. So instead of doing what he should, go to work like the rest of the people in that organization from the players on down to the Zamboni driver, he is somewhere sulking and probably looking for a permanent way out.

Associate coach Ulf Samuelsson currently has the controls according to reports.

From TSN...
"He is the head coach of this team right now," said Coyotes GM Don Maloney. "Given the timing of the court date, the lack of decisions on an ownership position and his contractual rights, Wayne just thought it was better to sit back for a few days and just evaluate the situation and talk to people. ...
What a joke.

I never wish bad luck on a player but this is too funny, in a nice sort of way.
