The spin continues...although I think this is the smart move.
According to the release below, the Wild are canceling their previously planned pre-game party, that was to take place on the top level of the RiverCenter parking ramp, due to the forecasted weather outlook, which is calling for rain. Ordinarily I would expect alternative party festivities to be in place in the event of inclement weather for this type of bash, however, this is no ordinary circumstance. The Wild are having a hard enough time selling tickets for all games, including the home opener tomorrow, and due to the fact that the Twins are playing a big one tomorrow at 4:00, the Wild organization decided to consider the loss of customers that may have otherwise gotten away. So to appease the masses, gate 1 at the X will open at 4:00 for all ticket-holding customers, who are invited to the Iron Range Grill, where the Twins game will be shown (the concourse monitors will also air the game). The fact that the team is still going ahead with its morning Wake-Up-Rally, from 6-9 outside the X, tells me this was a calculated move to keep the fans moving towards St. Paul, rather than the city across the river...which is not only smart, but a nice gesture.
