Not one for the record book

Please no. We do not want our 09-10 Minnesota Wild making an entry into their record book this early in the season, not for this kind of record anyway. But if the team posts an L tonight, they will do just that. It seems as if the Wild recently tied their longest road losing streak, 7 games, with their 3-1 loss to the Blues last week. Previous to that, you had to look back to the 06-07 season to find such shoddy road play. But here we sit, only 10 games into this season, and our Wild have a chance with their current team to eclipse that 7 game streak...Please no!

Still no Versus for DTV subscribers

I know this because I am one of them. And up until now, I have not missed the fact that the Versus network is in a squabble with my carrier, DirecTV. But tonight I will most undoubtedly feel the affects, because I will be without television coverage of our Minnesota Wild when the face the Chicago Blackhawks.

Unfortunately for Wild fans who do subscribe to DirecTV, Versus is schedule to air 7 of our games this season, a high number considering the league-wide Versus schedule. More high-profile teams such as the Blackhawks, Red Wings, Rangers, Flyers, and Penguins lead the way with 8 appearances. But this should be expected, as these teams are more marque and do have a more out-of-market viewership appeal.

If this is not settled soon, the real squeeze then will come in late March and/or early April. No deal by that time, it is lights out for DTV customers who were hoping to see some playoff hockey.

Burns signs with Easton Hockey

Endorsements are everything in the professional sports world, and our own Wild blue-liner inked what I am sure is a sweet deal with Easton Hockey, which is a developer, manufacturer, marketer and distributor of hockey equipment for both sports professionals and enthusiasts.

Mark Hughes, Director of Sports Marketing and Athletes for Easton Hockey, said that "The extension for Burns means one of the league’s best defensive talents remain in the Easton camp."

We can only hope that Easton sends to Burns its equipment that will help out with his -11.
