Well it's official...Gaborik will undergo surgery that will keep him out up to 10 weeks. Here is the official release.
Wild RW Marian Gaborik is scheduled to have surgery on his left hip on Monday, Jan. 5. The surgery will address a deficiency in his hip that has caused chronic left groin pain. The surgeon has apprised the team that a return to play from this surgery is as soon as ten weeks, with the player able to begin skating after six weeks.
And so there you have it. My hat goes off to Russo for breaking this information early.
Now the question becomes, what happens to Sir Marian once the injury is healed? The obvious answer and the biggest fear from the Wild camp is that he will leave on his merry way to the land of unrestricted free agency, with nothing left for the Wild but a bunch of unsold Gaborik jersey's. Or, he could do the ethical and just thing and sign at least a 1 year extension simply because this team has bent over backwards for his injury's and have been extremely patient with him.
Stay tuned...
